I visited Hampi a long time back, and to be very frank, I was considerably unmoved - in fact even slightly revolted with the stones and the heat. Now, when I see photos from friends, the place seems quite interesting. I wonder if it is Growing up or the charm of the camera :)
I dont think it can be said as a very enthralling place for the first timer. As my friend put - lotsa rock , rockdust, heat and a river. But it draws you later. Its a myth, just that when we grow old we are for more comfortable with silent nothingness. I suppose we might even be attracted. No role of cameras. Got to write up on Hampi here.
